For example, one mango uses 82 gallons of water, one 9-ounce stick of butter uses 366, one 7-ounce chocolate bar uses 449, and 5-ounces of ground beef uses 634. Producing a smart phone uses 240 gallons of water, a cotton t-shirt 660, and a pair of jeans 2000. Our current water usage patterns are unsustainable-- only three percent of the world's water is drinkable, and due to climate change, population growth and pollution, water shortages are worsening across the globe.
